Hannibal, MO

It's the end of summer, I am tired of being in one place, and this three day weekend was the perfect excuse to see something new.  A college friend, M, and I drove to Hannibal, MO and back in a day.  For those who are unfamiliar with the area, this town is two hours north of St. Louis.  Its claim to fame is Samuel Clemens' (Mark Twain) childhood home.  It was also the setting of Tom Sawyer - we saw the character's runaway island refuge!

This is me whitewashing Tom Sawyer's fence:

I felt liberated while walking around Hannibal; venturing away from my comfort zone can be a good thing.  M and I made a list of things we need to see in coming months (within 2 hours driving) and we have a lot to do!
