A couple months ago I read an article about free things to do in Paris. It listed the Friday afternoon fashion show (défilé de mode) at the Galleries Lafayette. I emailed the mall and reserved two tickets, not knowing if I would go or who the second person would be.
Look who I ran into in Paris! The one, the only, the scholar living here for the year... Lucy! She wholeheartedly agreed to stop studying for an afternoon to see some haute couture.
We both watched our first fashion show then enjoyed the afternoon at a café away from les touristes.
