At a conference in San Francisco today...
My mentor: "I have a sixth sense. Every person that I've predicted to go into this specialty has ended up in it. I think it's a great fit for you."
Me: "So you're predestining my career, not letting it be a part of my free will?"
"No, predestination implies you're destined for something no matter what. I don't think so. I think there's a host of things each of us would be good at, but one or two of them we would be great at. So one can choose perfectly, we'll, or poorly. See my point?"
"Ms. Cleo, predestination by any other name lands you in the same place..."
"Just remember my stats - I'm always right!"
