TODAY WE DID IT!
After a fitful night of sleep at Thorong La Base Camp, because of its obscene altitude, we woke up at 5:30, ate some power bars, and started the ascent to the pass. We were told that it's three hours from base camp but even at my slow speed, frequent stops for breath, and photos, we did it in two hours. Since we were so high the clouds kept rolling over us, so sometimes we were exposed to the bright sun and sometimes we were in a freezing cold mist-fog-cloud thing. Sometimes we saw amazing mountain panoramas and sometimes I could barely see Peter ahead of me. The scariest part was neither being able to see the rocks above us nor the steep drop below - it was as if we could step right off the mountain and keep walking.
So tired. Going to shower, eat, sleep.
