Bruxelles, Belgique

Claire is a wondeful sister!  She was in Monaco for business on Friday and arranged to have a friend pick me up from the Gare du Midi, have a crêpe for dinner, and head straight to a bar where two of their colleagues were having a birthday party.  Imagine walking ino a bar with a huge piece of luggage, a purse and camera bag, and a big jacket... yes, it happened.  Few people own cars here, so using public transport to drop my bags off is too much of a hassle.

Friday night we danced and drank and spoke in English.

On Saturday we walked around Bruxelles.  I sampled and purchased some chocolate from Patrick Roger, a maître chocolatier.  One would think the Belgians are jaded by so much good chocolates, but they are actually very aware of how good they have it.

Manneken Pis, the fountain of a pissing boy that has become the city's mascot.  How coincidential that he's dressed in scrubs!

Bières belges avec Claire.  La rouge-là, Kriek, c'était  la mienne.
Saturday night was a going away party for a friend of Clairee's who is moving to Shanghai.  I had to speak in French all night and was pretty timid about using it for the first time in years.  My comprehension is great but spoken is rusty.  I did accidentally say "hola" to someone and wanted to die from embarrassment.
Sunday brunch at La Brittanique; a pay-as-you-think-appropriate type of coop.
Lazy afternoon in the park.
